They dived to the bottom of hell, under the thick neon-methane atmosphere of Pluto. Flew in the snow storms of ammonia, every second fearing a break in the dark about huge needles durable as steel, water ice. They managed to find an area where there are mountains. The mystery of Pluto has been solved at last — this planet belongs to our Solar system. She captured her during the journey of the Sun through the Galaxy.

SEARCH OF THE WANDERERS
Amateur astronomer William Herschel, discoverer of Uranus
The discovery of Pluto, which for a long time officially considered the ninth planet of the Solar system, has its own history. Before the advent of telescopes humanity were well known five celestial bodies called planets (from the Greek for “Wanderers”, “wandering”): mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. During the four following centuries managed to open two more major planets, Uranus and Neptune. Continue reading
Astronomers at the Australian national University has discovered the largest known planetary systems. Therein, except for the Central star has a large planet.
This planet makes a complete revolution around the sun in nearly a million years. This gas giant is at a distance of one billion kilometers from the star, which exceeds in 140 times the distance between Pluto and the Sun. Reported by the BBC.
Thus far, there are only a few of these planetary systems.
The exoplanet, which received the designation 2MASS J2126-8140 has a lot of 12-15 Jupiter. It was discovered in the programme of observations of young stars and brown dwarfs in the immediate galactic environment of the Sun. Astronomers came to realize that they see not two independent object at the same distance from the Sun is about 100 light years away, a planetary system.
“We were very surprised by the discovery of an object with such a relatively small mass so far from the Central star. Unlike Solar, this system could not occur from a huge gas-dust clouds,” says Dr. Simon Murphy from the Australian national University. Continue reading
